Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, May 9th, 10, and 11th.

K-4 classes continued learning how to talk about different kinds of Mexican foods.  The children love learning with the colorful felt tacos and tortillas I brought to class!  Next year I hope we can actually create some Mexican pastries to take home.  I will present the directions in Spanish and know the results will be amazing!  (I may do the measuring at first).

K-5  We reviewed ordering tacos in a restaurant entirely in Spanish.  Then we practiced our song for graduation.  I can't wait for you to hear your children singing De Colores, a traditional Spanish folk song.

Grade 1  Grade 1 read a dialogue about a Spanish teacher and one of her students.  I am so pleased with our first graders ability to recognize words in Spanish.  I allowed the students to take the dialogue home so they can share it with you.

Grade 2 Students also read a dialogue and presented it in groups of two.

Grade 3  Students read the dialogue and translated all of the lines into English.  The third graders have excellent oral language skills!

Grade 4 presented the book projects they completed.  I am so pleased with the students' work!

Next week is our last class meeting until the new school year!

Thank you for your support and interest in our foreign language program.

                                              Have a wonderful summer vacation!

Wednesday, May 4

Grades 5 and 6 had contests based on their knowledge of Spanish expressions, vocabulary and grammatical structures.  The groups were divided into teams of four or five.  Students could collaborate with other members of their groups to answer the questions I asked them in Spanish.  We had a lot of fun!  The winning group members received a prize.
There is no homework. Next week we will continue reviewing language structures.  There will be more prizes!

NOTE:  Grade 4 has a project due on Monday, May 9.  Please read the post from two weeks ago about this project.  Students need to create a book based on vocabulary learned this year.  This is NOT an optional project.  I will collect and grade the books next week.  Your child may not receive his/her book back this year since I want to share them with Miss Stone and Staff.

May Day was magical!  Have a wonderful weekend.
