April 13, Monday

K-4 had their Spanish lesson in their classrooms because of testing.  Students can respond to basic questions in Spanish and tell what food they like to eat.  The can properly identify at least fifteen food in Spanish.  I am so pleased with their progress.

K-5  Students practiced telling what they like to eat.  We reviewed basic questions and responses in Spanish and counting to twenty.  Students also practiced their song, De Colores, for their grraduation ceremony.

Grade 2  Grade two began their study of Central and South American cultures.  They learned that Incas lived in Peru,  Aztecs lived in Mexico, and Mayans in Guatemala. Students began to make their books on the three cultures by coloring an example of a religious temple used by all three
civilizations.

Grade 3 Students reviewed vocabulary by playing Bingo in Spanish.  I am so pleased that students have learned so much basic and specialized vocabulary already.  Prizes were given to the winners.

Grade 4  Students received a map of South America to complete next week.  They also were shown a map of Central America.  They will be learning all of the countries in both South America and Central America.

There is NO homework during testing this week.  The map is due on May 8th for fourth graders.  I placed additional maps in teachers' boxes for students who were testing and did not receive  their map.
