April 17th

Grade K-3 are really doing well in Spanish.  Students can answer basic questions in Spanish as well as tell what they like to eat.  They can name at least fifteen foods--sometimes many more!  We discussed weather vocabulary today and heard a story about the weather. We also reviewed counting in Spanish to ten, colors and body parts.  We had a very productive morning.  Several students received certificates for responding correctly to questions or for singing one of our many songs in Spanish.

Grade 5 - We reviewed correct verb forms for regular present tense "ar" verbs in Spanish. I feel students understand much better now than they did last week.  Each subject in Spanish requires a different verb ending.  Several students took a test on locating the countries of South America.  We are studying The Incas of Peru.  One student correctly identified almost all of the countries correctly.  She received a prize.  The students have a blank template map of South America to color and label which  is due May 8th.

Grade 6  Students received a booklet consisting of thirty pages about The Mayans, The Aztecs, and The Incas.  The booklet is very informative.  I would like the students to read each page in order to gain knowledge of these three great ancient civilizations. Students have a map of South America to color and label. The map is due on May 8th.  Several students have already completed their map.  This activity helps students to learn about the history of Spanish-speaking countries before the arrival of Spanish explorers.

Have a great weekend!
