Dear Parents,
       5th and 6th did a fantastic  job on their homework from last week.  The new assignment given in class is to use forms of the verb "ser" to create sentences.  Students copied the correct forms of the verb in class.  I explained that ser is used to indicate a permanent condition, to express the time, and to express personality traits.  We will continue this lesson in class on Wednesday, so your child does not have to complete the assignment until we meet again.  Many students already understood the use of ser and I encourage them to attempt to create some original sentences.  For example:  Expressing someone's profession in Spanish is done using forms of the verb ser. Examples:  Yo soy maestra,  tu eres estudiante, el es doctor, ella is doctora, nosotros somos carpinteros,  Ellos son plomeros, Ellas son abogadas.  Here is is list your child can use to construct some sentences:  carpintero- carpenter, ingeniero, engineer, piloto, pilot, doctor, doctor,
mecanico, mechanic, arquitecto, architect. They already have the worksheet needed to create sentences illustrating the correct form of the verb with various persons--yo, tu, el, nosotros, ellos.
