November 28th and 29th

Grade K-4  The students reviewed numbers and food they like. All students can name at least three and sometimes four foods they like and express that information in a complete sentence in Spanish.  We also talked about the weather.  I hope the children will show you what they learned when they are home.  I asked them to share things they learn in Spanish with you at home  Please let me know if they do share with you  I read El muneco de jengibre--The Gingerbread Man, to the children.  They loved the story.

K-5  The children heard the story of The Gingerbread Man in Spanish,  and reviewed weather, foods and numbers.  They received a gingerbread man to color in class when they have time.

Grade 1  The students heard the story of The Gingerbread Man and colored a picture of him.  We also learned the names for some important symbols of Christmas in Spanish.

Grade 2  Grade 2 continued learning how to express the time in Spanish and associate specific times of the day with activities.  They also learned the names of some important symbols of Christmas in Spanish.   Our second graders really enjoy studying Spanish and are doing very well.

Grade 3 The children read a dialogue about the classes they take in school.  I would like them to study the dialogue at home.

Grade 4  We discussed the names of the continents and oceans in Spanish.  This work is part of our nine-week plan of study. The children received a map of the world to label with the appropriate continent or ocean.

Grade 5  Grade 5 continued their work with maps and geography.  The children labelled a map with the appropriate continent and ocean. I asked the children to study their map. STUDYING THE MAP AND THE NAMES OF THE CONTINENTS AND OCEANS IS A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT.

Grade 6  The students received two dialogues to study.  I asked them to create a comic strip based on ONE of the dialogues. THIS IS A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT.   I would love it if they create two dialogues however!  Due to practice for the Christmas programs, our next two Spanish  classes will be shortened; therefore, studying and creating comic strips will help the students to learn the new vocabulary which was introduced.

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving holiday.
